The management and coaches of the senior and youth sections within the club enter the U21s in the Surrey Cup competition and view it as a great opportunity for players:

• It helps the step-up and integration from youth to senior rugby.
• It is a fantastic opportunity to remain in contact with youth age group team mates and friends, following the end of U18 rugby and progression to employment, university etc.
• It offers the chance for players at university to train and play during those long "tedious" holidays.
• It enables continued competition against Surrey teams, that have been regular opponents through the years of youth rugby

Integrating youth players with the senior club is essential for Cobham to continue growing and succeeding. Last season the senior 1st and A XV teams fielded in excess of 20 players under the age of 21. In the senior section we fully appreciate and respect the abundance of talent that has constantly come through the mini and youth sections at Cobham, so it is only natural to provide the opportunity, back-up and support for players to continue their playing careers at Cobham RFC.

To this extent, the senior coaches and management team are fully behind running and developing the U21 Team so that it matches the "professional" ethos of the youth and senior sections. It is our intention to run this side to compete at the highest level.
