The second Christmas fixture took place against Battersea Ironsides at their Earlsfield ground.
Steve Pope would have hoped that any Christmas indulgence wouldn’t hamper his young squad. His fears were to be tempered by a Battersea side missing 3 players for the first ten minutes of the game. Despite a very wet and slippery surface, Cobham took full advantage of the numerical difference as tries from Theo Buffini and Ollie Kitto led to an early 0-12 lead.
Back up to full compliment, the Ironsides looked more combative and crossed themselves through their standout Nottingham uni scrum half.
This was however to be the home sides only rewards as Cobham asserted their quality in the remainder of the half. Three further tries including Captain Tom Birch and a second for Buffini leaving the half time score 7-29
With the game as a contest largely over, Pope used his squad to maintain the admirably high tempo.
With the Battersea side fading, Cobham took full advantage and posted a further 6 tries through Will Slough, Elliot Hansen, Max Talman, two for Will Sharp, and one more for Buffini to complete his hat trick. All before a premature final whistle was blown.
